5 Hacks to Increase Your Productivity in Your Side Hustle

When you initially start your side hustle, you're generally just concerned with fulfilling client deadlines ahead of time or just offering the best services you have to your potential clients.

You're probably not thinking or planning a lot about tomorrow, how you'll squeeze in that birthday party tomorrow, or how you'll fulfill a deadline that conflicts with your day job.

Balancing your side hustle with your day job, social life, and family obligations is a skill. You'll also need to boost your productivity during the hours you've set aside for your side hustle. Make the most of your time and use these productivity tricks we’ve listed below to just get things done.

Improving your workspace

It's important to have a dedicated workspace. This will help you stay focused and minimize unnecessary distractions. However, it is totally understandable that when you are just starting that you would not have that luxury of a proper work area. But as soon as you are able to, it is important to invest and improve your workspace. Your workspace definitely helps boost your productivity. You may find an area in your home where you can work undisturbed for as long as possible.

In addition to this, make sure that your workspace is comfortable and well-lit. This will help you stay feel fresh and motivated throughout the day. Finally, try to decorate your workspace with items that inspire you. This could be anything from photos of your goals to quotes that motivate you. Creating a positive and inspiring environment will help you stay focused and productive in your side hustle.

Make a list of priorities and get things done.

This one is probably obvious but not a lot of us just finish up on the task we’ve put on our to-do list, right? This is a given but it's important to focus on the tasks that are most important to your business. Trying to do too many things at once will only lead to burnout. By taking a few minutes each day to identify what's most important, you'll be more likely to stay focused and get things done. You may also use some productivity apps like Trello, Notion, Asana, Basecamp, or ClickUp whichever works for your tasks and preference.

Break down big tasks into smaller ones

Anyone who has ever tackled a big project knows that it can be daunting. Where do you even begin? It can be easy to get overwhelmed and give up before you even get started. One productivity hack that can help is to break the project down into smaller tasks. This way, each task seems more manageable, and you're more likely to actually complete them. And as you check each one off your list, you'll feel a sense of accomplishment that will motivate you to keep going.

Take regular breaks.

One hack is to take regular breaks. It may seem counterintuitive, but taking a break can actually help you be more productive. When you take a break, your mind has a chance to rest and rejuvenate. As a result, when you come back to work, you'll be more focused and productive.

Batching your tasks

If you're looking for ways to increase your productivity and get more out of your side hustle, then these 5 hacks should help you out. One simple way to boost your productivity is to batch similar tasks together. This means that instead of tackling small tasks here and there throughout the day, you focus on getting all of those similar tasks done in one go. This can help you to stay focused and avoid burnout.

An example of how I do task batching is:

🗒️Monday: Invoice of last week’s work

🗒️Tuesday: Newsletter

🗒️Wednesday: Social Media engagements

🗒️Thursday: Blogposts

🗒️Friday: Promotions

If you're looking for ways to increase your productivity as you continue working on your side hustle, we've got five hacks for you. By implementing some or all of these tips, you should start seeing an improvement in the amount and quality of work that you're able to produce. Of course, everyone's different and what works for one person might not work for another, so feel free to experiment until you find what works best for you. Let us know how it goes!
